Before knowing what side bets are, let’s remember that Blackjack is a card game whose objective is to obtain a score of 21 with a maximum of two or three cards without busting (bust).
In blackjack, each card has a point value, and all cards numbered from two to ten have the value indicated on the card. The face cards (king, queen, and joker) have a value of ten points and the ace can be worth one or ten points, as the case may be.
The highest hand is the one that adds up to 21 points (an Ace plus a Face) and this hand is called “blackjack”.
Now that we know the basics of blackjack, we can talk more about blackjack side bets.
Side bets, also called side bets, provide an exciting way to make blackjack games more interesting while offering you a greater number of ways to win.
Side bets are additional bets placed in a blackjack round that the game itself does not require to be played on a regular basis. They are bonuses that offer players a greater number of ways to win.
Side bets are created for players who are looking for more fun and adrenaline when betting on all kinds of situations that can occur in the course of a blackjack round.

How do blackjack side bets work?
Side bets in blackjack are a form of betting in which a player places an additional wager apart from the main bet. These side bets can be placed before or during the hand and are usually associated with some specific characteristics of a player’s hand.
For example, some side bets allow a player to bet on the possibility that he will have a blackjack (a hand of two cards totaling 21). These side bets may also offer some additional winning possibilities for players, although this will also depend on the game and the casino in which it is played.
These side bets usually offer players the opportunity to win a little more than the main game. Some examples of side bets are:
- Insurance: Guarantees that the player will receive a small amount of money if the dealer gets a blackjack.
- Surrender: Allows the player to return half of his bet if the dealer gets a blackjack.
- Pairs: This bet allows the player to earn an extra payout if he receives a pair on his first two cards.
- Double the bet: Here you double your original bet in exchange for receiving a single card.

What Blackjack side bets can you make?
There are different types of side bets that we can apply to Blackjack, but some of the most popular side bets are as follows:
Insurance
Insurance bets in Blackjack are a form of side bet that a player can place when the dealer shows an Ace as his first card.
This bet is placed before the player receives his cards and is a wager in favor of the dealer having Blackjack.
If the dealer has Blackjack, the player will receive a payout of 2 to 1 the amount of his insurance bet.
If the dealer does not have Blackjack, the player loses the amount of the insurance bet.

21+3
21+3 bets in Blackjack are side bets in which the player can place an additional bet at the beginning of the hand. This bet is on the combination of the player’s first two cards and any cards the dealer has on the table. This bet pays 8 to 1 if the player has a three-of-a-kind, 10 to 1 if he has a straight, 15 to 1 if he has a flush, and 30 to 1 if he has a straight flush.
Perfect Pair
Perfect Pair bets in Blackjack are special bets placed when a player receives a hand with two cards of the same value. These bets are made as a way to increase the player’s potential winnings. The player places an amount equal to the original bet on a second line, which means that he has a chance to win double what he bet. If the player wins, he/she will receive a 1 to 1 payout for the original bet and another 1 to 1 payout for the second bet. If the player loses, he will lose both bets.
Easy Match
An Easy Match bet in Blackjack refers to a side bet that consists of predicting whether the next card the player receives will be of the same suit as the first card received. If the prediction is correct, the player will receive double his original bet.
